Hello doll lovers! This blog was created to tell you about dolls I have made and classes I teach on doll making at Attic Window Quilt Shop in Comstock Park, Michigan (a suburb of Grand Rapids). My goal in teaching is to pass on the love of making heirloom quality dolls. Most of the dolls I make (and hold classes for) are designed by Gail Wilson - visit her website at www.gailwilsondesigns.com . Page down my blog for some fun doll links including antique doll sites and hard to find doll supplies.

Cloth Fashion Doll

Happy New Year everyone. I hope you had a wonderful holiday with some spare time for making dolls.  This past Thursday, we started the Cloth Fashion doll.

Everyone in class was able to make their body and will be ready to stuff on next Thursday. We even had a few dolls already stuffed and skin painted show up!  What a treat to see dolls that are well on their way.

Gail's patterns for this doll makes for a nicely shaped lady like torso.

The doll pattern is available at http://www.gailwilsondesigns.com/ and has an easy option for face details.

My original cloth fashion doll was made at a retreat to learn how to paint in oils, so it is a little different from the pattern available now. My version has painted on hair while the pattern has instructions for a mohair wig. The mohair is available separately and comes in several colors.

Since this is a fashion doll, she will have a bonnet with a hat box. We've also been exploring the idea of making a parasol. There are tutorials from others online on how to easily make a parasol.

Have some doll fun today and stay warm! - Julie
