Hello doll lovers! This blog was created to tell you about dolls I have made and classes I teach on doll making at Attic Window Quilt Shop in Comstock Park, Michigan (a suburb of Grand Rapids). My goal in teaching is to pass on the love of making heirloom quality dolls. Most of the dolls I make (and hold classes for) are designed by Gail Wilson - visit her website at www.gailwilsondesigns.com . Page down my blog for some fun doll links including antique doll sites and hard to find doll supplies.

Pincushion Doll Pictures

Today, I bagged the housework and had some doll fun. Here's a close up of some of the notions my Patriotic Pincushion doll is holding. The tiny buttons are truly tiny! See the links at the bottom of my blog for info about where to purchase the buttons. You'll need to make your own button card. The fabric for these two PC dolls was purchased at Attic Window Quilt Shop.

Here is a picture of my Pincushion doll in Pinks.

The Patriotic Pincushion doll got many sewing things on her stand: sewing machine and quilt bats,

a basket full of notions, tiny scissors, and yarn hanks.

Here she is a full body shot.
Where do you find some of these tiny goodies? The sewing machine came from Hobby Lobby in the doll section where they have doll house making supplies. The quilting books, cutting matt, and quilt bat labels are a freebie from Julie Old Crow's Hitty Site ( the links to most of these items are provided below at the bottom of this blog). Some of the sewing notions came from Paperminis.com and the tiny scissors are from Gail Wilson Designs - look in the new items in the Queen Anne section for the tiny sewies items.
If you want to see this doll in person, she'll be at the last PC doll class on Thursday (June 25, 2009) 10 AM to 3 PM at Attic Window Quilt Shop in Comstock, Alpine at 6 Mile, Comstock Park, MI.
She was an easy doll to do - so much fun. The basic kit for this doll is available from Gail Wilson Designs.com in the new items section. I suggest that you get the $5.00 deal for stuffing, too - she takes alot of stuffing!
I had loads of doll fun today! I hope you get some too - Julie

She is just beautiful. I really admire your patience and your artistic ability. It really takes talent to make this kind of doll.

Thanks for the kinds words...it's the kit from Gail Wilson that makes it look like I have talent. I don't have any special skills - I just follow the instructions in the kit and end up with a wonderful doll.
